I’ve been thinking about what everyday is a Saturday means to me. I think it means that you live everyday to the fullest. This does not mean that you live every day like it is your last, but rather that you live it with purpose. You should enjoy your days. Everyday won’t be your best day, but you can make everyday a Saturday. Listen to your favorite song in the car, make your favorite sandwich for lunch, sing in the shower, wake up early and go for a run. Suck it all in. That moment in time can never be lived again. So it is over, another segment of your life complete. Might as well make the most of it. Take pictures, write, tell people about what you’ve learned about yourself and others. Try something new, and more importantly, spread your new found attitude to others. Show them that they too can live this way. If they can’t do it themselves…help them. Teach someone something new. Take someone to a new mountain, view point, lake, trail, restaurant, movie theatre. Go exploring like you did when you were a child. Explore the depths of the world, of your mind, and of your capacity as a human being. How far can you go? What can we accomplish? Get motivated. Get up. Do something.

This blog was inspired by my mother. I would like to pass on a love for this world that has been given to me. There is so much out there. Sometimes it takes sailing far away from shore to realize what you left on the beach. But that process, that voyage away from shore, may be the most important thing you ever do. Learning weather patterns, currents, and then only using this knowledge to get back to where you started. But along the way, gusts will push you off course, you may fall out of your boat, have to swim to an island, join a cult, build a new boat, drink some kool-aid...but eventually you'll make it back--hopefully having learned a lot (and still alive).
Or you may not make it back. But you'll make it somewhere. Somewhere you're meant to be. You may not ever reach the physical place. Where you're meant to be may be on the move, or it may be behind a desk, or up on the moon, or in a laboratory. Have faith in yourself, but don't wait for it all to just happen. It won't. It's not going to fall out of the sky and hit you in the head. Shit doesn't always hit people in the head like Isaac. Do some thinking for yourself. Try and try and try again. And then...you can try some more. Don't tell yourself to stay the same--to not change. That's not a reasonable request. You will change, you will learn, you will fuck up big time, and once in a while you will succeed.
This blog is an experiment in a long line of experiments practicing writing and self-improvement through experience and travel.
